Asbestosis / Mesothelioma

Asbestosis is a scarring of the lungs that leads to severe problems with breathing. This is caused by exposure to asbestos.

Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer of the lining of the chest as well as the lining of the abdomen. This rare form of cancer is from exposure to asbestos.

Mesothelioma is most commonly found in the pleura, which is the outer lining of the lungs and the chest cavity. Mesothelioma can also be found in the peritoneum, which is the lining of the abdominal cavity, as well as in the pericardium, which is the sac that surrounds the heart.

Exposure to Asbestos will not immediately result in a diagnosis of Mesothelioma and Asbestosis. The symptoms usually do not appear until at least ten (10) years after first exposure.

Many people who have Mesothelioma or Asbestosis are misdiagnosed because of the extended manifestation period of the disease.
